Social Action in Europe: Sustainable Social Development and Economic Challenges 10- 13 April 2011
Social professionals in Europe are under pressure. Are social professionals there as a last resort to provide a safety net for people who cannot share equally in wealth? Or should social professionals work towards to a more equal and sustainable society? Do social professionals contribute to the process of building a Europe in which all citizens are able to participate and have their rights respected?
These questions call for social action in Europe.
The second ENSACT conference, which will be held in Brussels, provides an opportunity for social professionals, lecturers, researchers, students, policymakers, service providers, volunteers and service users to meet, share and exchange knowledge, to debate current sustainable social development and to discuss ways forward in the field of social practice, education, policy and service provision. Social professionals represent a mosaic of different workers: social workers, social educators, community workers, youth workers, childcare workers, development workers, outreach workers, etc.
In 2011, those involved in, or who care about the social field in Europe, are urged to come together, to consolidate their experience and to share new knowledge and skills. Together, we can speak with a strong social voice.
We warmly invite you to be part of this process, to begin debates, and to:
- Share new knowledge and skills in relation to practice; build strong relationships between professional training and practice, develop strategies for social action, and empower each other in the pursuit of user-centred quality services;
- Encourage innovation in education, research, policy, practice and advocacy for social development;
- Create learning opportunities in seminars and workshops as well as in forums and poster presentations, in order to expand the dialogue, find new solutions or new roles for professionals to meet changing needs and problems in Europe and in the world;
- Stimulate the debate, engage institutions and create synergies among professionals in dialogue with service users, policy makers and the Social NGOs in Europe, in order to develop people-centred sustainable social progress;
- Contribute to debates about social policy in Europe in dialogue with the European Union and the Council of Europe.
